Summary

Auth+ is a two-factor authentication (2FA) application designed to enhance the security of digital assets. The project aimed to solve common user problems such as onboarding difficulties, complex account lists, and technical jargon.

A structure that simplifies the user experience while increasing security has been created with features such as a simple interface, quick installation, category management, device control and biometric login.

The design process took just one month; after development, the project was published on the Google Play Store within 3-4 months. This resulted in a user-focused and powerful security solution that went live quickly.

Is a user-friendly security tool possible?

Context

Auth+ is a two-factor authentication (2FA) application designed to enhance the security of digital assets. The project aimed to solve common user problems such as onboarding difficulties, complex account lists, and technical jargon.

A structure that simplifies the user experience while increasing security has been created with features such as a simple interface, quick installation, category management, device control and biometric login.

Restrictions

The design process took just one month; with development complete, the project was published on the Google Play Store within 3–4 months. This short-term product launch was made possible thanks to the design team's focused work and streamlined decision-making processes.

Why are existing 2FA implementations not sufficient?

Before the project, I reviewed similar 2FA applications (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, etc.). The main problems I encountered were:

  • Challenging onboarding: The installation steps are long and not user-friendly.

  • Complicated account lists: Having accounts on a single screen without categories makes management difficult.

  • Use of technical language: Even a simple process can be frightening for the user because it is explained in technical terms.

  • Lack of customization: Limited ability to edit, pin, or change appearance of accounts.

These points were causing an application that was supposed to provide security to create “additional load” on the user.

The steps I took in the design process:

  • Information Architecture: I clarified modules such as adding accounts, category management, and device control.

  • User Flows: QR code onboarding, manual account addition, category creation, verification notification.

  • Prototype: Testing flows and rapid iteration.

Due to the limited time (1 month design, 3-4 months go live), fast decision making and lean design principles came to the fore in the process.

How does a security app work in daily life?

In the Auth+ design, I simplified the flow from the user's perspective. Speed, clarity, and trust were prioritized at every step of the user's interaction with the application:

Onboarding

The user who downloads the application learns what Auth+ does on a few screens and can proceed to the installation step immediately by selecting the "Skip Introduction" option.

Adding & Deleting Accounts

Easily add accounts by scanning a QR code or entering a manual key.

Categorization

Social media can separate business or personal accounts into separate groups.

Verification Notice

When a new session is opened, the app asks, “Did you just log in?” and the user approves or rejects with a single tap.

Additional Security

Only he can access his accounts with his fingerprint, PIN code and device management.

Error & Success Messages

Provides users with clear, concise feedback without overwhelming them with technical details.

Light Color Mode

Following a one-month design sprint and a 3–4 month development process, Auth+ was released on the Google Play Store.

Outcome:
The complex and often confusing 2FA experience was transformed into a simple, customizable, and secure flow.

My Contribution:
End-to-end design process including information architecture, user flows, UI kit development, prototyping, and close coordination with the development team.

Result:
A live product that makes everyday digital security easier for users.
